Details

One could ramble the earth, waiting for the day one stumbled across one of these oversized beauties folded, stored and forgotten, at a borrowed country home.  Or, you can cheat the system and purchase one for yourself.

Intentionally oversized, as if an old boyfriend was a star linebacker, back in the day.  Passed along, passed down, this is the sweater we all wished we had found or been gifted.  Long,  loose-but-not-quite bell-sleeves, a cuff that may have experienced years of being pushed up, rolled up, or pulled down to warm hands. but definitely relaxed with a deep ribbed cuff.  Also: an easy, wide ribbed crew neck, long body length and equally relaxed deep, ribbed hemline. Easy to imagine prancing around the house in this beauty, sans pants, Tom Cruise style. (We can say more - read here).

Styling & Pairing Note

The Borrowed Sweater has *always* been with you, hasn't it? Living in a storage box during those years you forgot about it? No?

Well it feels that familiar, regardless.  Now that it’s here  -  or rediscovered one could say - let's give it a good season of wearing-almost-every-day, shall we? .

That weekend sleep-over visit to a friend’s country cabin, yes, this pullover will be your best friend. An early riser? With your PJ bottoms for morning coffee watching the birds on the lake, then later in the day, with jeans for estate-sale’ing (yes it's a verb, here at AP).  Evening, with a “good skirt” - and maybe a long necklace or artisan earrings - for Saturday dinner at the nearby Ye-Old Inn. Really this is the sweater to have with you, it’s going to be your new best-friend, and like all best friends, its easy fit will keep ALL of your secrets hidden, in the most gorgeous, subtly luxe way.

 Need more styling options?

Layer the Borrowed Sweater over our (upcoming) Dock Leggings for your next “quiet time / netflix-binging” session. Or over *any* dress, tailored pant, or boho skirt in your closet, and you are instantly * dressed-down” and “dressed-up” at the same time, let's call it the Schroedinger’s sweater phenomenon (IYKYK).

Truely, since a sweater like this has lived rent-free in our heads, our entire life, it's unlikely that we will need many styling tips for wearing it, now that it's here.  Just combine it with whatever you please (dress, pant, skirt or dress) and it will make you feel visible & hidden in equal parts.

Thank goodness it's knitted from our glorious Scottish cashmere, as we’ll need it literally to last a lifetime - now that it's here, unlikely you will want to live one more day without it.

Just beware sticky fingers, as your daughter, niece, or the nice, young exchange student staying in the back bedroom is going to covet it too, and pieces like these have a way of being “borrowed” as we have already covered.

The Borrowed Sweater, now yours to keep, if you can hold onto it.
