Aunt Aggie KNITS | STUDIO Agnese
Agnes Piersant
The original dress label, less than 100 remaining, tea-stained yet still vibrant, aching to be seen again, adorning beautiful garments. These original Agnes Piersant vintage labels are reserved for our crème-de-la-crème hand-knit pieces, which will be offered in small batches, twice a year at Bridal Season (Spring/Summer) and Holiday (Winter).
The 1st collection is targeted for 2027 - because special things take a bit more time.
Agnes Piersanti
A reimagining of Agnes’ original dress label, this time – 90 years later – in her full name. But as Agnes’ granddaughter and great-granddaughter began tossing around design ideas for how they imagined the revival of Agnes’ original label – they found they had more ideas and design inspirations than just one label could contain, without diluting the *magic* of Agnes’ original design aesthetic and finely tuned eye for the best yarns, in the most subtly-lovely shades.
Directly influenced by her mother and grandmother’s sense of style (co-founder) Michelle’s happy place certainly resides here, in the fashion traditions of the early-mid 20th Century, and in Agnes’ original classic approach to knitwear design. Designing for her grandmother’s revived label; fully inside of Michelle’s wheel-house.
Aunt Aggie Knits
As plans solidified and a design strategy for a new company began to take shape, Michelle was at the helm of creating new designs for the Agnes Piersanti label. But (Michelle’s co-founder & niece) Cait – who is one more generation removed from Agnes’ era, also wanted to bring forward her more youthful, fresh “look” as well to the endeavor.
Meet Aunt Aggie KNITS the sassy, younger sister to Agnes Piersanti.
“Aggie” – as Agnes was fondly known to her close friends and “Aunt Aggie” to her larger family - certainly DID knit, no truer (3) words have ever been strung together. The Aunt Aggie KNITS label will be featured on our more youthful styles and more casual yarns, and will feature eye-catching graphics, special knitwear stitches, embroidery, and playful intarsia patterns. Pieces you’ll lull around the house in, stroll the farmers market, or pop into your favorite bookstore. These pieces will comfortably sit, side-by-side, with your finer Agnes Piersanti knitwear. Clearly related, yet distinctly different; more lighthearted, less serious.
We’re not saying you need to "be young" to wear an Aunt Aggie Knits garment, just "young-at-heart"... or simply in the mood for a change of scenery.
Studio Agnese
So, yes, we are a knitwear company.
However, knitwear sometimes seeks a lovely woven garment to play with; to set it off in its best light.
A gorgeous custom pleated skirt in THE MOST SUMPTUOUS fabric, to pair with that cardigan.
A light-as-air chemise to layer underneath, perhaps to peek out at the neckline, or just to remain private.
A shift dress in the most unusual shape that hints at - but doesn’t tug at - your figure underneath;
A dramatic waist-wrap or frilly cuff & collar to adorn a simple cashmere sweater.
In the most unusual patterns, textures & colors and of silk, mostly.
We thought you’d want a few of these too, to keep things interesting, and round out that near-perfect knitwear drawer (yes, store our knits folded!)
Meet Studio Agnese, our 4th and final label under the Agnes Piersanti brand family.
Agnese is the Italian iteration of Agnes, and was our grandmother’s birth name, discovered on her immigration documents from 1911. We thought it was a beautiful name and deserved its own beautiful corner of the stage, too.
